On Monday we visited the historical centre of Košice. Students were divided into 2 groups with 2 tourist guides. We started in the Main street and continued in St. Elizabeth´s Cathedral. We saw The Urban Tower, Mikluš´s prison, old historical buildings and the singing fountain. We finished the sightseeing tour by climbing stairs in the north tower of St. Elizabeth´s Cathedral.
On the third day, we travelled to Jasov, Šugov and Medzev to explore the surrounding area. Our first stop was the Jasovská cave, where our attention was attracted by rocky shapes, cave decorations and underground spaces. Later, we visited the nearby Premonstratensian Abbey, where we learnt about the history of the Abbey and about the people who lived there in the past. Then we had a walk in the French-type ornamental garden, where the gardening elements caught our attention. Afterwards, we moved to Šugov to visit the water smith workshop. There we admired the local smith´s masterpiece work. Our last destination was the observatory in Medzev. First we learnt about the solar system and then in the planetary we observed the planets and the constellations in each month. The sightseeing trip was interesting and the surrounding area was worth seeing. After lunch students worked in the artistic workshop. Later, in the evening we enjoyed the barbecue party.
The fourth day was dedicated to hiking in the most beautiful karst region of Slovakia. We started in a small village called Turňa nad Bodvou, under the first attraction of Slovak Karst National Park – the ruins of Turňa Castle. The hike up the hill was a bit demanding but it was worth the view. We finished the trip in Zadiel Gorge, where we admired high rock cliffs, small caves, waterfalls and rich flora.
